The Zimbabwe Mighty Warriors were dumped by the authorities when they landed in Harare after their participation at the Rio Summer Olympics in 2016. The players were picked up from the airport in a battered bus and dropped off at a lodge in Harare on the same day and given $5 each and told to find their own way home in national colours from national duty. Whilst it’s very commendable that the new ZIFA president Nqobile SaNkosi Magwizi has revealed that the players from that squad will be given stands they were promised nine years ago, they were not compensated financially, a kind request to the ZIFA board to look into this and for the players to be compensated. Mr Magwizi and your board it’s unfortunate that you have inherited the debt but from the bottom of our heearts thank you for honouring the promise of the stands.
